John Degen - President & Co-Founder
A lifelong Maryland resident, John founded Chesapeake Caregivers, a boutique assisted living business with multiple locations on Maryland’s eastern shore. Providing quality care to local seniors is John’s priority and as the company’s owner and operator, he wore many hats. John was hands-on in assisting residents, running operations, managing budgets, overseeing human resources, and maintaining quality control and licensure.
In 2009, John established Chesapeake Caregivers Home Care. Additionally, John purchased a property in Annapolis in 2016 to build the largest assisted living and memory care residence in the area. He served as the EOO of Bay Village Assisted Living and Memory Care from its opening in March 2021. Once Bay Village was operating successfully, John continued to build on his passion for creating senior living communities in the Mid-Atlantic. In January 2023, he launched Chesapeake Caregivers Development, LLC. Soon after, Chesapeake Caregivers Management, LLC was born to serve as operators of its newly built and acquired senior communities, as well as providing that service to other ownership groups.
John has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Economics from Francis Marion University.
